Rehabilitation Services
Whether a resident requires short-term rehabilitation following an illness or injury or extensive long-term care, the rehabilitation services professionals at Asbury Heights work to create a personalized treatment plan to address each individual’s needs, goals and capabilities.
Range of Services
Through Alliance Rehab-HVA, Asbury’s rehabilitation programs are staffed by licensed, certified practitioners who have extensive experience working with older adults. Follow-up care, including in-home assessments, gradual step-down programs from acute therapy to daily routines, and assistance with insurance claims, is provided as an additional service to guarantee individuals and their families the highest level of comfort and assurance.
Physical Therapy
Treatments Include:
- Mobility and transfer training
- Ambulation with assistive devices (e.g. walker, cane)
- Training in donning and use of orthotics and prosthetics
Modalities:
- Moist heat treatments
- Ultrasound
- Massage
- Electrical stimulation
- Therapeutic exercise
- Strength and endurance training
- Stretching to improve range of motion
- Balance and coordination activities
Occupational Therapy
Treatments Include:
Activities of daily living, such as:
- Bathing and grooming
- Dressing
- Feeding
Modalities:
- Static/dynamic splinting
- Adaptive equipment
- Environmental adaptation
- Visual perceptual compensation techniques
Therapeutic Exercise:
- Active range of motion exercises
- Progressive resistive exercises
- Gross/fine motor coordination
- Dexterity training
Language/Speech Therapy
Treatments include:
- Cognitive functioning
- Orientation, judgment, problem solving
Swallowing disorders:
- Resolving chewing difficulties
- Preventing coughing and choking during meals
- Assisting in aspiration
Language:
- Understanding of what is being communicated
- Translation of thoughts to words
Speech and voice:
- Treating dysarthria (difficulty speaking)
- Strengthening oral muscles
- Improving slurred speech
