Chapel
Asbury has two chapels where our residents can attend religious services. Regularly scheduled, non-denominational services are offered by our United Methodist chaplain. A Roman Catholic priest also visits regularly to offer Mass and a Eucharistic Minister distributes communion weekly. Residents are encouraged to invite their own clergy to visit and conduct services whenever possible.

Six Dimensional Wellness Program
We believe in the importance of serving the whole person - providing a comprehensive continuum of care that recognizes each individual's specific and holistic needs. Not just physical needs, but social, emotional, intellectual, vocational, and spiritual requirements as well. Both residents and employees are involved in Asbury's wellness campaign.

Asbury is dedicated to building and maintaining an atmosphere in which every individual's wellness is an organizational priority. Each of the six dimensions has many components and no single dimension is more important than another. We promote knowledge in achieving healthy lifestyle habits and we especially promote an individual's involvement and participation in their own wellness.

Seniorize
Seniorcize is an individualized, progressive exercise program designed to meet the special needs of each of its participants. The program is campus-wide, for all levels of care, and is staffed by two full-time exercise physiologists. Seniorcize focuses on programming that will increase the strength and flexibility of the participant, helping them to achieve their highest level of independence and improve their quality of life.

The Center for Healthy Aging at Asbury Heights
The University of Pittsburgh, Center for Healthy Aging is Asbury's newest collaborator in a widespread effort to increase the overall health and wellness of older adults in the Pittsburgh area. The Center for Healthy Aging's Asbury Heights Resource Center is located in the Health and Wellness Center at Asbury Heights. A Community Health Specialist from the Center for Healthy Aging is onsite two days each week to help develop and implement ongoing outreach programming to Asbury residents and the community at large. Established in 2001 at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health, the Center for Healthy Aging is funded through a grant from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to serve as a regional resource for individuals, health care providers and community health organizations. At the core of the Center's philosophy are the "Ten Keys to Healthy Aging," which are recommendations addressing everything from exercise and smoking cessation to depression and social activities. These "Ten Keys" are complementary to Asbury's ongoing "Six Dimensions of Wellness" initiative. Through the personnel and experience at the Center for Healthy Aging, Asbury is fortunate to gain access to information, programs and cutting-edge research that will enable Asbury to continue it's mission of improving the lives of older adults.
