Offering Residents a Life-Enriching Experience

The Asbury Angels is a group of Independent, volunteer residents who provide companionship or services to those in need; primarily those residing in the Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Not only is this beneficial to those receiving services, but those behind the program, the Angels themselves, receive fulfillment in knowing that what they are doing is making a difference.

Since its inception, the program has evolved to reach out to other groups and organizations outside of Asbury including Animal Friends, St. Clair Cancer Center,  Military Connections group, Little Dresses for Africa and various shelters for the homeless to name a few.

Exploring Opportunities

There are many ways that residents can participate in our Asbury Angel program.

Visiting - Our Angels visit fellow residents who may be in recovery or need someone to talk to.

Greeting Cards - We send birthday, get-well and other greeting cards to our residents.

Holiday Celebrations - We also celebrate special holidays by providing gifts and treats to our residents throughout the year.

Crafts - Many of our Angels participate in the craft programs we offer through our Activity Center and donate the items for use among members of the Asbury community.

Knitting/Crocheting - Those who can knit or crochet are welcome to use our supplies to create lap blankets, shawls, chemo caps, pet beds, hats for the homeless and other items.

Special Projects - Our Angels participate in special projects such as collecting pill bottles for the Malawi, Africa medical facilities,  and creating pet toys for Animal Friends. Many of these projects are open to all residents who wish to participate in these charitable efforts.
